What’s On in Bath Summer 2026 – Perfect for Couples and Groups

Summer is one of the best times to visit the city of Bath. With long evenings, outdoor events, live music, festivals, theatre and stunning countryside nearby, Bath offers something for couples looking for a romantic escape as well as groups of friends and families wanting a memorable summer break.

Whether you are planning a weekend away or a longer holiday, here are some of the highlights taking place in Bath and the surrounding area during Summer 2026.

Bath Boules – Bath’s Summer Party

One of Bath’s best-loved summer traditions is Bath Boules in Queen Square. This lively event combines pétanque competitions, food stalls, drinks, entertainment and a fantastic social atmosphere right in the centre of the city.

Perfect for groups of friends, couples and work gatherings, Bath Boules has become a real summer highlight and raises money for local charities at the same time.

Festivals, Music and Theatre

Bath comes alive during the summer months with festivals and performances across the city.

The Bath International Music Festival returns from 30 May to 7 June 2026 with concerts ranging from classical music and jazz to contemporary performances in some of Bath’s most beautiful historic venues.

The Bath Fringe Festival also takes place from late May into June, bringing theatre, comedy, street entertainment, exhibitions and live music throughout the city.

The Garden Theatre Festival is a treat on a summer’s evening, with a variety of outdoor performances in June and July, in the grounds of the Holburne Museum.

For couples looking for a special evening, the Theatre Royal Bath always offers an excellent summer programme, while Green Park Brasserie combines live music with candle-lit dining.

Bath on the Beach

For a more relaxed summer atmosphere, Bath on the Beach transforms part of the city into a giant outdoor social space with deckchairs, street food, cocktails and entertainment. It is ideal for groups wanting a fun afternoon or couples enjoying a relaxed evening together.

Romantic Summer Experiences for Couples

Bath is made for romantic summer breaks. Spend the day exploring the Georgian streets, visit the Roman Baths, enjoy rooftop views from the Thermae Bath Spa, or take an evening stroll across Pulteney Bridge.

The city’s many independent cafés, wine bars and restaurants make Bath perfect for long summer evenings together.

Nearby countryside villages such as Castle Combe, Lacock and Bradford-on-Avon are also beautiful places to explore during your stay.

Gardens, Art and Countryside Escapes

Summer 2026 also brings excellent exhibitions and outdoor experiences to the area.

The Holburne Museum is hosting “Beyond Impressionism: Printmaking from Manet to Picasso” throughout the summer, showcasing works by major artists including Van Gogh and Picasso.

Iford Manor Gardens, just outside Bath, combines beautiful gardens with jazz performances during the Iford Manor Jazz Festival in June.

Visitors can also enjoy canal walks, countryside pubs, the Cotswolds, Cheddar Gorge and many scenic villages all within easy reach of Bath.

Stay in Comfort Around Bath

After a busy day exploring festivals, concerts and summer events, choosing the right accommodation can make your stay even more enjoyable.

For couples looking for a stylish city break, the elegant Georgian apartment at 1 The Paragon offers a romantic stay in the heart of Bath with stunning views across the city.
