Vote for a Tourism Superstar – Mike James of Savouring Bath!

Many of our guests have enjoyed touring (and tasting) some of Bath’s food highlights with Mike James from food tour company Savouring Bath and we are delighted to announce that Mike has been nominated in this years Visit England’s Tourism Superstar Awards, and made the shortlist of the final 10 nominees!

This annual award recognises and celebrates those in the industry who have given their passion and dedication and gone the extra mile to provide unforgettable experiences to visitors.

Mike has operated food tours since 2015 which support, promote, and collaborate with many independent businesses across the city. When the pandemic began and subsequent lockdowns took hold, Mike refunded cancelled booking and then looked in to how he could support those businesses. He volunteered to make bread deliveries for Thoughtful Bakery, ensuring those who were isolating around the city, still get fresh baked product delivered to their door. He also began working for a local chocolatier, packing sweet treats during a period of increased production, helping to make cheese for a Somerset cheese maker, and becoming a cheesemonger during the Christmas rush. It gave him a chance to learn more about the businesses and the processes involved in their products, which has increased his knowledge, making his tours even more fun and informative. Mike even launched a new cheese tour with Savouring Bath in 2021, which showcases British cheeses while exploring the city.

Mike said “Winning this award would mean as much to all the hard-working people in our food & drink industry across Bath as it would for me. So many of them contribute to the amazing experiences our visitors have on our tours, that I would not have been nominated without their hard work, passion, and willingness to engage. This award is not just for me but for the front of house, back of house, admin staff, owners, and all the talented creators who are all so deserving.”

The award is run in partnership with the Mirror and the result will be decided by public vote. Voting will close on March 22nd and the result will be announced on March 26th, so please do vote now to help our lovely Mike win!
