Relax with a romantic retreat

Bath is undoubtedly one of the most romantic cities in the UK, proving a particularly attractive destination for a weekend escape or special break with your significant other no matter the time of year. Having captured the hearts and imagination of many visitors over the centuries why not live out your own storybook indulgence like those characters in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking for a luxurious stay, budget weekend break, or even preparing to pop the question, there are plenty of ways to celebrate your love across the city.

Spend some time together with a romantic stroll through the city’s labyrinth of cobbled streets, surrounded by the iconic sandstone façade. For a change of scene you may want to wander along the Gravel Walk past the Georgian Garden and through to Royal Victoria Park and its beautiful Botanical Gardens, an ideal spot for a impromptu picnic or that very special proposal.

However you like to spend time together, you’re bound to find an activity to satisfy your interests. Perhaps you could take a punt down the winding River Avon and then pull up on the bank for a tasty pub lunch after. Though if all that sounds like too much hard work, you could just head straight to the Thermae Bath Spa, with its rooftop pool proving the perfect spot to unwind in total relaxation.

Top and tail the day with a sky-high ascent in a hot air balloon at sunrise or sunset. Savour spectacular aerial views of the city and surrounding countryside, providing a memorable experience to treasure with your favourite other. Go all out with a bottle of bubble on the side if you fancy for that special occasion.

Bath Self Catering has an eclectic range of self-catering properties for you to choose from when planning your romantic escape to the glorious city of Bath.
