Anvil Cottage is a beautiful 5 Star Gold holiday cottage, sleeping 4, set in the grounds of The Close, an 18th century house facing the duck pond, on the village green, in Biddestone.

It is ideally placed to visit the World Heritage City of Bath, and to explore the historic villages and countryside of Wiltshire and the Cotswolds.
Originally a working forge supplying agricultural implements and tools, Anvil Cottage has recently undergone sympathetic restoration to create a high class holiday home, whilst retaining many original features. The main living area is a magnificent open space created from the original forge, measuring approx. 28ft x 21ft.

The property provides flexible accommodation on one level, including one double bedroom and a second bedroom with a double bed which can be converted to two singles – ideal for families with younger children. There are 2 steps down from the living area to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The property is tastefully furnished, with all necessary facilities and amenities.

Occupants have their own gravelled seating area to the rear of the property, and are welcome to use the orchard and paddock of The Close.
The property is available for weekly rental from Friday to Friday, with long weekends and mid week breaks by special request.

Master Bedroom - Pretty white painted metal King size bedstead. Second Bedroom - A king size bed which can be converted to two 2' 6" singles. Painted ash bedside tables, wardrobes & chests of drawers. Central heating. Wooden floors with rugs.

Bathroom - Modern white suite comprising panelled bath with hand shower, low level wc and wash basin. Ensuite Shower Room - Modern white suite comprising shower with glass enclosure, low level wc and wash basin. Heated towel rails and under floor heating.

The kitchen area comprises oak painted units with granite worktops, and modern appliances including a gas fired range master, dishwasher, tall larder, fridge/freezer and microwave. High quality crockery and cutlery & cooking utensils.

There is a Smart 56 ins TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Wifi is available. A hi-fi unit with CD/radio, and a Google Nest are provided.

An oak door gives access to the rear of the property where there is a delightful gravelled seating area for outside dining. Guests can wander through the orchard with several fruit trees, and the 2 acre paddock, which joins the village playing fields.

The accommodation is on one level, with 2 steps down from the living area to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The main living area has under floor heating. The bedrooms have radiators, and the bathrooms towel rails, all run off the central heating system. There is a wood burning stove in the living room area for which logs are provided. Linen and towels are provided. All the above services are included in the weekly rental costs.

Residents have a parking area on the gravelled drive of The Close.

Smoking is not permitted.

Children of all ages are welcome.

Pets are not allowed.

Biddestone is easily accessible by road, being only 10 minutes of junction 17 of the M4, and by train, with Chippenham Station 4 miles away.

The nearest airport is at Bristol, approximately 28 miles away.

The nearest large supermarket is located on the Western outskirts of Chippenham, approx. 3 miles away.

Biddestone has a pub - The White Horse - offering home cooked food.

We are perfectly situated for many different activities and places to visit, wet or dry, young or old, at any time of the year. We are within a short drive of Castle Combe and Lacock, within easy reach of three World Heritage Sites, including bath, and well placed for touring the rest of Wiltshire and the Cotswolds. It is even possible to go to London for the day. There are many country pubs and restuarants nearby and the area is blessed with lovely walks and cycling. The cottage contains comprehensive information on activities and local amenities and we are always delighted to help you in offering advice based on our own experiences.
